· Position and functions of The National Working Environment Monitoring Station (WEMOS):
- The National Working Environment Monitoring Station (WEMOS) is a public science and technology organization under the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health with the function of scientific research to serve management, implementation, and application of scientific and technological results on occupational safety and health and working environment according to the provisions of law.
- The National Working Environment Monitoring Station (WEMOS) has legal status, can use its own seal, open accounts at the treasury and bank according to State regulations and is responsible before the law for all activities by itself. The headquarters of WEMOS is located at No. 99 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, Vietnam.
· Duties and powers of The National Working Environment Monitoring Station (WEMOS):
- Carry out public services on environmental protection according to the provisions of law
- Carry out monitoring of environmental indicators required by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Analyze and provide information on environmental quality indicators and current environmental status (with the reliability according to national and international standards) to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; serving the development of policies and decision making in environmental monitoring, management and protection. - Research, develop and apply science and technology to treat environmental pollution, environmental management, apply and transfer new technology in the field of pollution treatment of the working environment and industrial environment.
- Training and disseminating knowledge in the field of working environment and industrial environment; training and professional guidance for environmental monitoring and analysis staff according to the requirements of environmental management and protection at the Central and Local levels.
- Implement science and technology services and international cooperation according to the provision of law: monitoring and analysis, environmental impact assessment, measurement of environmental pollution indicators; consulting on appraisal, design, and evaluation of environmental pollution control and treatment systems; investment, technology transfer, supply of environmental pollution control and treatment systems, international cooperation in the field of environmental science and technology.
